I have witnesses to this. I contacted my bank who opened a case, and it was denied as they stated Banco Multiva told Chase the ATM was working fine. Does anyone have any helpful hints on how I can get my money back?
Has this happened to anyone else there? I will not use a Banco Multiva atm machine. Thanks for posting your experience. I use Santander, Scotia and Banamex. Your only recourse is with your bank. I have heard there is a scam where the bad guys put in a device that doesn't allow your money to come out. You leave and then they remove the blocking device and collect your money.
If that is the case how does your bank back home know you didn't receive your funds, and not the bad guy? I cannot believe that there is a device like that - my friends were right there and took pics of the empty tray an the machine and wrote letters documenting what happened that day.
I sent that all to Chase, they opened a case with banco multiva - who said the ATM was working fine - so I don't get my money. It's so frustrating - please be careful out there! Scams are everywhere including the U. But I'd avoid Mexico altogether at this point. Too dangerous. I am not disputing your story but never use a stand alone ATM, always bank affiliated or in a large store like Mega, Walmart or in the airport.
Sucks Jill hope you get your money back. Multiva has crept into the airport and ADO bus station. I still won't use them. I tried to use a Banorte atm on 10th once, but the line of locals was too long. That's usually a sign they have good machines, or maybe lowest fees. I get all of my cash from ATMs but only use machines belonging to major banks.
